Tyquone is a 6’7″ junior at Orr High School in Chicago, Illinois. Orr is not a bad team this year, but I would have to say, the player who seems to get the most touches a game is Tyquone Greer. Tyquone possesses every antribute you love about a 6’7″ guard, long armed, ability to battle down low, mid to three point jump shot, and athleticism. In one game at the Motor City Roundball Classic, Tyquone took home the MVP with an impressive 23 point and nine rebound performances. Tyquone has already seemed some interest from Baylor and Illinois. But I am telling you Chicago, I know you want to see Simeon and Jabari Parker, but really check this kid out. A future star is in the making.
Interview with Marcus Smith
3 JanPlaying in a talent rich city such as Chicago, it is possible to get overlooked when playing in the same city as names such as Jabari Parker. But there is a junior at Hyde Park High School in the Windy City that should get some recognition as well. Marcus Smith is a combo guard who is a two way player, meaning he can play on both the defensive and offensive player. In one game at the Motor City Roundball Classic, he scored about 20 points. Marcus is already receiving some interest from some schools, but will in the future receive more if he keeps up the performances he put on at the Motor City Roundball.
Interview with Derrick Walton Jr.
3 JanDerrick Walton, a commit to Michigan, has all the tools to be an elite point guard. Today, and especially in the NBA, point guards are guys who look to score first and pass second. But Derrick is a combination of both, he can both make sweet dimes to the open man, or take over the game in crunch time. Trey Burke will most likely leave Michigan for the NBA Draft this year, so with that said, you have no need to fear fans of the Maize & Blue. You have another young and talented point guard coming soon.
Interview with Pontiac’s Dijon Cogdill
1 JanDijon Cogdill is the point guard for Pontiac High School. Do not let his size fool you. The kid can play. And when he is in the zone, he is really on. He went 7-13 from three point land. Yes that is right. 21 of his 27 total points against Schoolcraft were on threes. He also dished out five assists in the game, while taking the game MVP. He is one of those players that can make a major impact in the correct system.
Interview with Tim Coleman of Cincinnati Withrow
1 JanTim Coleman is one of those lefty guards that just seems to know how to handle the ball. Put him in a pick-and-roll situation and he can absolutely kill a defense. He scored 31 points against a pretty good Canton team, including 3-9 from three point land. If he does not get looked at by D-1 schools that would be a crime.
Interview with Oak Park’s Stephon Williams
1 JanStephon Williams is a wing guard for the Oak Park Knights who won the MVP at the Motor City Roundball Classic. Stephon did not have his best game at the Classic. However, he has shown the ability to put the ball in hole multiple times. He did so earlier this season scoring 29 against Lathrup in mid December. He is not just a scorer, he also showed the ability for a guard to rebound the ball against Lincoln.
Interview with Renaissance’s Clark Bishop
1 JanClark is one of those gifted offensive players that you don’t see quite often. His skill sets include ball handling, athleticism, jump shot, three point, and one-on-one moves. There is nothing this kid can’t do with the ball in his hand.
Interview with Andre Frederick
1 JanFrederick is a 6’7″ center for the Frederick Douglass Hurricanes. Only a junior, Andre right now has the ability to take over the defensive side of the court with rebounds, not to mention his blocking shots ability.
Interview with Darrell Davis
25 DecDarrell Davis is one of the top juniors in the State of Michigan. He is a combo guard who can shoot and pass the rock. Davis is expected to have a fabulous season this year not only for himself, but for his team, the Douglass Hurricanes.
Interview with Clemmye Owens V
25 DecClemmye Owens V is one of the top shooting guards in Ohio. He can shoot the three at will, and also showed some quickness in transition against Chandler Park. Clemmye has signed to play with Bethune-Cookman for college, along with his current point guard, Tony Kynard II.
